The Renault Captur entered the second phase of its automobile life in 2017.
This most popular Compact Crossover in its segment features a new front bumper, fully equipped with LED headlamps. It also possesses a blind spot detector and parking assist. With the Renault R&GO app for coupling a smartphone to the car radio and to the vehicle via Bluetooth, Renault has expanded its infotainment system. New too is the seven-speaker Bose sound system.
Nearly all the comfort and safety features are standard on the high-end ‘Initiale Paris’ finish, now available for the first time. Prices start with ‘Life’ equipment, available from €16,051, followed by ‘Zen’ equipment from €17,985, ‘Intens’ from €20,016 and ‘Initiale Paris’ from €25,576.
Practical solutions
Even the basic model, Captur Life, comes standard with the hands-free key card, cruise control and speed limiter, front and rear electric windows, and Hill Start Assist. Added to this are LED daytime running lights, electric heated mirrors and an on-board computer. Practical features allowing flexible use of the interior space and storage space come with the Life version. Not to mention the 16 cm sliding rear seat, thanks to which the rear luggage compartment volume and the cargo area can be adjusted.
The flexible floor of the storage space is a practical solution: to benefit from a flat floor when the seat is folded down, it can be dismantled or elevated.
Another special feature is the drawer which replaces the traditional glove box and offers 11 litres of storage space. Renault has expanded its range of colours for the Captur with three new lacquered paints: orange, blue and black. The lacquered version is also available in the new roof colour called ‘Platinum Gray’.
The interior also benefits from additional customisation possibilities.
Engine range
The brand is offering three diesel engines and three petrol engines, delivering between 66 kW/90 hp and 87 kW/118 hp, with a six-speed manual gearbox. 118 hp engines are also on offer with a six-speed dual clutch gearbox. Renault reports average fuel consumption (according to the NEDC cycle) of between 3.7 litres and 5.5 litres per 100 km. The TCe 120 petrol engine sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.9 seconds. Maximum speeds are between 171 and 192 km/h. In terms of torque, the diesel version is mated with a manual gearbox which delivers 110 hp with a value of 260 Nm. The automated gearbox has a lower torque of 40 Nm.
